Eye Lift-Blepharoplasty
THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES
- Comments about looking older, sad, or tired.
- Excess skin, hooding, wrinkles, folds, heaviness, and the inability to
apply makeup to the upper eyelids.
- Excess skin, wrinkles, bags or puffiness to the lower eyelids.
- Sagging "hound dog" drooping look to the corners of the eyes.
- Occasional difficulty in vision when looking upward.
THE PROCEDURE
- Local or general anesthesia can be used and it takes about two hours for
both eyes.
- In the upper eyelid an incision is made in the natural crease, excess
skin is removed and the excess fat is removed.
- In the lower eyelid the incision is made below the eyelashes or below
the inside edge of the eyelid. Excess fat and skin is removed.
- The muscles are tightened or lifted.
- Wrinkles are removed at the same time by laser or chemical peel.
- This can be combined with a facelift or forehead lift.
THE RECOVERY
- You can go home after several hours.
- You can shower on the second day after surgery.
- Minimal pain that is mostly gone by the second or third day and easily
controlled by medications.
- Swelling which is mild to moderate and peaks at two to three days then
disappears rapidly over the next three weeks.
- Minimal bruising which is most at two days then disappears rapidly by
three to five days.
- Able to apply make-up in three to four days and comfortably appear in
public at that time.
- Resume many activities within the first week, and most by at least three
weeks.
- Stitches removed first at four days and the rest at ten days.
- Off of work for three to four days.
THE RESULT
- Very natural, rested, younger appearance.
- Better vision and no more heaviness or discomfort to the eyelids.
- Lasts the rest of your life and always looks better than if you didn't
do it.
- Natural and presentable appearance in the first week that just gets
better over the next three to six months.
