THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES

  • Comments about looking older, sad, stern, angry, or tired.
  • Wrinkle lines across the forehead from constantly having to hold the eyebrows up to see better.
  • Deep furrow lines between the eyebrows.
  • Sagging drooping eyebrows that push down and create more skin and hooding on the upper eyelids.
  • Often associated with decreased vision when looking upward.

THE OPEN PROCEDURE

  • An incision inside the hairline above the forehead that allows for pulling up loose skin and sagging eyebrows, removing muscles that cause wrinkles, and removal of excess skin and scalp. No hair is shaved.
  • Local or general anesthesia can be used and it takes about one hour.
  • This can be combined with an eyelift or facelift.

THE ENDOSCOPIC (MINIMAL INCISION) PROCEDURE

  • Three small incisions are made in the hairline. A camera (endoscope) is inserted that guides the doctor in the surgical removal of the muscles, lifting, fixation, and tightening of the forehead.
  • Wrinkles are removed at the same time by laser or chemical peel.
  • Local or general anesthesia can be used and it takes about one hour.
  • This can be combined with an eyelift or facelift.

THE RECOVERY

  • You can go home after several hours.
  • You can shower on the second day after surgery.
  • No drains are used.
  • Minimal pain that is mostly gone by the second or third day and easily controlled by medications.
  • Swelling which is mild to moderate and peaks at two to three days then disappears rapidly over the next three weeks.
  • Minimal bruising of the forehead, eyes, and cheeks which is most at two days then disappears rapidly by three to five days.
  • Able to apply make-up in three to four days and comfortably appear in public at that time.
  • Resume many activities within the first week, and most by at least three weeks.
  • Stitches removed at seven days.
  • Off of work for three to seven days.

THE RESULT

  • Very natural, rested, younger appearance.
  • Better vision and no more heaviness to the eyelids.
  • Return of the eyebrows to an elevated more natural position.
  • Lasts the rest of your life and always looks better than if you didn't do it.
  • Natural and presentable appearance in the first week that just gets better over the next three to six months.
