Liposuction of the Face & Neck

Fat in the neck and face is by far the most common and most disturbing of reasons patients of all ages come to see me for facial rejuvenation. I understand how this can be very disturbing to men and women alike and I am pleased that I can so predictably treat this for you and provide you this facial surgery that by far is the quickest recovery and one of the greatest to satisfy.

Features here consist of excess fat in basically any location in the face and neck. It is most commonly seen as just a thick, bulky, fullness in the neck, mostly in the front, but often in the sides and even down to the collar bones. Fat also is common in the jowls where it creates a shadow that extends down from the lips to the jawline edge. Fat can be present in the cheeks, laugh lines, and in front of the ears. A more elusive fat pocket may be present in the midface beneath the cheek bone, called the buccal fat pad. This is a deeper and different fat pocket, so visit this section also. The facial fat relates anatomically to the muscles in the neck, the fat beneath these, your skin elasticity, and your bony foundations especially in the chin. So, there are many different anatomic features here that must be analyzed and addressed prior to your surgery. I will coordinate the features of your anatomy with your expectations, formulate a plan with you, and guide you through this. In liposuction of the face and neck there are a number of different techniques and devices that I must apply exactly to your precise anatomic features and to what you see, in order for us to achieve your best possible result. Surgery involves a light general anesthetic, performed where I do surgery, which is in a hospital setting. The surgery is safe and predictable. There is a very mild swelling and virtually no bruising after surgery. There are usually no stitches, with return to work in as little as 3-7 days, and to some physical exercise in the first week. The surgical result relies on the fact that your fat layer, which forms the foundation for your skin, can be comfortably and artistically removed, then your skin shrinks and molds down around your reduced fatty framework. Oftentimes, I will add a chin implant and/or remove the fat beneath the neck muscles (platysma) and tighten these muscles, as indicated.

In addition, I consider your body as a whole and I build a system into every facial surgery that, initially, allows you to recover much quicker and, secondly, it serves to preserve your surgical results. This system includes a special diet, special attention to blood clotting, vitamins, supplements, special garments, skin products, physical training and knowing what to avoid. Together, all of this allows me to create results that are consistently very beautiful, quick to heal, exceptionally natural, and with minimal incisions.
