Corrugator Muscle Excision
THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES
- Comments about looking older, sad, tired or angry
- Wrinkles and deep lines and creases between the eyebrows

THE PROCEDURE
- Local or general anesthesia can be used and it takes about one hour.
- An incision is made in the inside corner of the upper eyelid crease and
the frown muscles (corrugators), located near the inner edge of the
eyebrows. These are snipped and removed so they do not grow back. Excess
skin and fat of the eyelid can also be removed at this time.
- Wrinkles can be removed at the same time by laser or chemical peel.
- This can be combined with the facelift, forehead lift or other plastic
surgery procedures.
THE RECOVERY
- You can go home after several hours.
- You can shower on the second day after surgery.
- Minimal pain that is mostly gone by the second or third day and easily
controlled by medications.
- Swelling which is mild to moderate and peaks at two to three days then
disappears rapidly over the next three weeks.
- Minimal bruising which is most at two days then disappears rapidly by
three to five days.
- Able to apply make-up in three to four days and comfortably appear in
public at that time.
- Resume many activities within the first week, and most by at least three
weeks.
- Stitches removed first at four days.
- Off of work for three to four days.
THE RESULT
- Very natural, rested, younger appearance.
- No more comments about angry or sad look.
- Still able to make some motion in this areas so that it does not look
unnatural.
- Lasts the rest of your life and always looks better than if you didn't
do it.
