Breast Lift-Mastopexy

Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is clearly one of the most artistic operations of the breast that I perform. Whether you are born with this or it develops later in life, especially after breast feeding, it is a perfectly normal and very common request for women to want their breasts to look perkier and youthful. Patients seek this procedure when they have sagging, looseness, drooping, large areolae, or a funny shape to the breast. Your anatomy, combined with your expectations, are used to put a plan together. There are numerous incisions that can be used depending upon your anatomy and expectations. Incisions such as the donut, periareolar, crescent, lollipop, vertical, boat anchor, inverted T and others may be employed. The choice of incision depends on your anatomy and expectations. Implants may be used with mastopexy or not. This depends on if you want a lift and more volume, especially in the upper pole of the breast. Much can be done with this surgery to not only increase the size of your breasts, but to provide a very beautiful and natural shape. A wide array of implants are available from saline to silicone, from fuzzy to smooth, from round to anatomic. Gel fill materials have evolved to be very safe, natural feeling, and causing less contracture. Surgery involves a relatively short procedure under a light general anesthetic, performed where I do surgery, which is in a hospital setting. The surgery is safe and predictable. Virtually immediately after surgery you see your result and it just gets better in time. All the stitches are dissolvable; the recovery is rapid, with return to work in several days, and to some physical exercise within the first week.
